Andrea Randall-Luyties, Director, Vocal Instructor

Seeing the popularity of musical theater grow among children and teens, Andrea Randall-Luyties saw an arising need for a program that was designed to create a more "well-rounded" performer of musical theater repertoire. Because much of her teaching has consisted not only of vocal techniques but also the directing and staging of songs and community stage productions, Mrs. R-L decided it was time to form a curriculum that would encourage young lovers of theater to extend themself beyond their comfort zone of one single area of the stage, and so Stage Right Productions was born in the summer of 2010.

Mrs. R-L received her training in vocal performance, vocal pedagogy, and theater from Citrus College, California State University at Los Angeles, University of La Verne. Since joining her church choir at age eleven, she has had many opportunities to travel and learn about varying styles of music from all over the world. A born teacher, Mrs. Randall-Luyties taught her her first voice lesson at age twelve, and obtained her first official studio teaching position by the age of twenty in 2000.

In summer of 2000, Mrs. Randall-Luyties was a soloist for the Jahrestag der Gründung München, and in 2001, she had the opportunity to participate in the Hollywood Opera Reading Company. She's performed such lead operatic roles as the Countess in Mozart's Le Nozzi di Figaro, The Dew Fairy in Engelbert Humperdink's Hansel and Gretel, and Marietta in Victor Herbert's Naughty Marietta. Mrs. Randall-Luyties is also an accomplished performer of musical theater repertoire, having performed in eight musicals and playing the lead roles of Maria in The Sound of Music, Rapunzel in Sondheim's Into the Woods, and Julie in Rodgers and Hammerstein's Carousel.

In addition to her solo work, Mrs. Randall-Luyties is a seasoned choral performer, having sung with the Crystal Cathedral Choir under the direction of Donald Neuen (on the internationally televised show "Hour of Power" with Reverend Robert Schueller). She has also been recognized for her solo work with two European ensembles, and was a member of the Houston Masterworks Chorus, directed by Dr. Allen Hightower from 2005-2007.

Furthermore, Mrs. Randall-Luyties is a member of NATS (National Association of Teachers of Singing), where students are given the opportunity to audition in the annual classical and/or musical theater solo competitions.

William Michael Luyties, Musical Director

William Michael Luyties received his Bachelor's Degree in Music Composition with a concentration in Vocal Performance from Southern Methodist University's Meadows School of the Arts in 2003. Since that time he has played for and musically directed over fifteen productions in and around the Greater Houston Area including The Last 5 Years, Guys & Dolls, West Side Story, Thoroughly Modern Millie, 42nd Street, and Children of Eden.

No stranger to the stage, William has been performing in musical theater productions since his first foray into the art form in a 1995 community theater production of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat in which he played one of Joseph's many brothers. From there he went on to appear as Conrad Birdie in Bye, Bye Birdie, Curly in Oklahoma!, Jesus in Godspell, Danny in Grease, and Tony in West Side Story; most recently he appeared in the role of Jim in the Elvis jukebox musical All Shook Up. As a member of the pit orchestra, he has played the guitar/banjo for Crazy for You and Damn Yankees, bass guitar for Taffetas and Crazy for You, and piano/keyboards for countless shows, galas, benefits, and fundraisers.

William brings a unique perspective to his role as musical director, having been both over and under the stage as well as behind the podium with baton in hand.
